"China Clothing & Textiles Exposition" is an annual event sponsored by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT), and has been successfully held for eight times consecutively. First two shows were held at Sydney Exhibition Centre (Darling Harbor) (2001,2002), then Melbourne (2003,2004, 2005,2006,2007,2008) of Australia. The exposition is targeting Australian & South pacific market with Chinese middle to high-end textiles and clothing. It is the largest and most influential trade event for textiles and clothing products from China in the south pacific area. In the year 2001, the first exposition held in Sydney caused quite a sensation among Australian textile and clothing industry and in media. Some distinguished guests such as Edward Gough Whitlam, former Australian Prime Minister and Gao Hucheng, Vice-Minister of China Ministry of Commerce visited the exposition. In 2006, the exposition is renamed as “Clothing & Textiles Expo, Melbourne” to facilitate international exhibitors from countries/areas other than China. Manufacturers from Pakistan, India, Ukraine, Hong Kong have joined the Expo since then, factories from Vietnam, Taiwan, etc. also showed great interests in this expo due to its ever growing appeal to local buyers.
Advantages
Each exposition assembles about 120 textiles and clothing export enterprises with outstanding production capacity and favorable reputation, which are located in nearly 20 different provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China, plus a number of manufacturers from other countries. The majority of the exhibitors are manufacturers from overseas, which is the most interesting to local buyers about this expo. Some of the exhibitors and exhibits represent the top level of Chinese textiles and clothing industry.
Features
The exhibiting area is up to 4500 square meters. Exhibiting products include children’s clothing, sportswear, beachwear, men’s and women’s fashion, evening dresses, formal and casual wears, large variety of fabrics, home textiles, decoration cloth, towels, fashion accessories, and a number of exhibitors showing suitcases, bags, shoes, hats, and jewelries, etc. Some renowned Chinese clothing enterprises such as "Cathaya", "Sainty", "Erdos", "Youngor", and "Silique", had used this expo to launch their own brands in Australian market.
Functions and Objects
This exposition bears two functions, namely, order placement and industry and market information exchange. The 2009 Expo will be held in Melbourne again, the Expo organizer CCCT is committed to help buyers and exhibitors to reach their goals, and to promote the exchange and cooperation in the field of textiles and clothing between textiles and clothing exporting countries and Australia.
There will be more than 120 exhibitors from China to participate in the 2009 Expo.
